My name is Stan Stone and welcome to my amateur radio website. I received my Extra license in 2008 after passing Elements 2, 3 and 4 in one sitting. My father was a ham and worked as a Chief Electronics Technician on several NOAA research ships. I now have his call sign.

I live in Gloucester, Massachusetts, about an hour north of Boston. I am currently (2014) president of the Cape Ann Amateur Radio Association (CAARA), also located in Gloucester. We are one of the few clubs in the area to have a building and we use it extensively.

I created a Tech in a Day class for people to get their Technician license in one day. It is a question pool study class and by the beginning of 2014, we have a 90% passing rate and graduated over 120 new hams.

I don’t do as much operating as I’d like given time constraints and limited antenna opportunities. I am working on a developing a remote station at CAARA, which should resolve issues that many of us in club have with local QRM, antenna and equipment challenges. My favorite mode is PSK31 on 20m when I get my Buddipole out on my deck.
